Bamboo Betta Garden

Bamboo Betta Garden

Bamboo Betta Garden by combining two hobbies I enjoy. I can create interesting indoor mini gardens and aquariums. Take a plant that can grow in water without dirt place it in a glass vase, jar, bowl. Place some river rocks or glass stones around the plant to hold it up.  Fill it with water and let it set for a week or two. I add a pinch of Betta food to the water and wait another two weeks. This will cycle the water and grow and establish bacteria to process the waste from the fish and food you feed it into food for the bamboo plant.

Now we are ready to add a betta fish of your choice to your bamboo water garden.

By using care and only feeding enough to care for Betta. The balance of bacteria and plant needs should maintain the clean water environment for the Betta fish. If you overfeed the fish and the plant is not able to feed off the nutrients broken down by the bacteria, then the water will become cloudy and will have to change part of it to reduce the excess nutrients in the water to restore the balance.

Bamboo is easy to work with when creating a water garden. They are a hardy plant that loves water. Marimo Moss Ball are another type of plant to use in water garden setups. They are hardy and slow growing unless there are too many nutrients in the water. They can be split to propagate into more Marimo Moss Ball.

Bamboo Betta Garden can become other combinations of fish and plants. You can use other fish like guppies to create an indoor water garden. You can use other types of plants. This new water garden I just started today has a small guppy and I am using a spider plant.

You can create many different types of combinations of plants and fish or even some types of invertebrates like Ghost Shrimp.
